The Tarot is made up of seventy eight cards

* 56 Minor Arcana cards which are divided into four suits rather like playing cards

* 22 Major Arcana cards with names such as The Fool, The Hierophant, The Hanged Man, etc.

There is nothing to be scared of with the Tarot – it is merely your own will and power as you shuffle the deck that creates the reading!

The thought, will and intent from the enquirer is the bridge between the conscious and unconscious knowledge, rather than the actual cards. They are merely a tool.

The reader is merely the interpreter of the imprint of your choices, intent and will that you leave upon the deck as you shuffle.

As such, your free will and intent can affect the outcome of what the cards tell you. If you long for a particular answer instead of asking the question objectively, the cards could reflect your desire rather than the truth. Ask your questions with this in mind.

Interpretation comes in many ways and varies from reader to reader, the pictures may speak to you, a detail on the card may leap out at you, a "knowing" may come to you as you look at the card.

I don't like the text books, they often have conflicting definitions and can confuse the reader, blocking their clairvoyance.

However there are some basics and the following info on the suits can be used as loose general guidelines on which to add your own interpretation during a reading:
