 Brainwaves!

For optimum results in spirit communication or psychic development, your brain needs to be at the same state it is in when you are just on the edge of nodding off to sleep or waking up.

Scientists actually agree !

Scientific studies show that the brain is in the "alpha" wave state in most people who claim to have ability when they have done experiments into ESP and psychic ability.

At certain brainwave frequencies known as the alpha state, we are resting deeply yet still conscious, at the threshold of drifting away from or back into consciousness. As the brain enters deeper states, our consciousness is less concerned with waking life, our 'third eye' is active and spirit communication becomes natural.

Consciousness is raised when the pineal gland is stimulated. If the pineal gland is not yet fully developed, it will be in the course of evolution.

the Pineal Gland

The true function of this gland has long been contemplated by philosophers and mediums throughout the ages.

Some thought that the pineal gland is the part of the body with which the soul is most immediately associated. This theory is still widely known today - Descartes called it the Seat of the Soul.

Ancient Greeks believed the pineal gland to be our connection to the Realms of Thought.

The pineal gland is sensitive to light, however it is so far eclosed by the brain matter, it cannot receive light directly!

It controls the various biorhythms of the body.It is made of the same tissue as the eye.

When light no longer stimulates the hypothalamus, melatonin is released.

Melatonin is a hormone that is found throughout the animal kingdom. In reptiles and birds the pineal gland is close to the skin and needs no interaction with the eye to register day/night cycles (this is where the notion of the 'third eye" comes from). In these animals, the pineal gland is the master clock. In mammals, however, the pineal gland is reliant on the eye.

The pineal gland is an important timekeeper for the human body. In some lower vertebrates the Pineal Gland has an actual well-developed eye-like structure; functioning as a light receptor.

It is considered by some to be the evolutionary forerunner of the modern eye.

The gland weighs little more than 0.1 gram, and is the size of a grain of rice, although larger in children, it shrinks at puberty. It appears to play a major role in sexual development, hibernation in animals, metabolism, and seasonal breeding.

In humans it affects circadian rhythms, sleep patterns (melatonin levels increase at night), and is implicated in seasonal affective disorder. The abundant melatonin levels in children is believed to inhibit sexual development. When puberty arrives, melatonin production is reduced. Some would say that this is a contributory factor in children being more receptive to spirit than adults.

The pineal gland secretes melanin during times of relaxation and visualization. As we have electromagnetic energy - and react to EM energy stimuli around us - so does the pineal gland.

When activated, the pineal gland becomes the line of communication with Spirit.  We all have a pineal gland, therefore we all have the potential to use it!

To activate the 'third eye' and perceive higher dimensions, the pineal gland and the pituitary body vibrate in unison, which is achieved through meditation and/or relaxation. Positive forces interact and become strong enough to create the 'light in the head.'

Visualisation exercises are the first step in directing the energies in our inner systems to activate the 'third eye'.

Scientific Studies

Some references to examples of scientific research for those wishing to delve further:

Although the language is at times technical, you will find that the studies reviewed, and many more referenced, give clinical and scientific validation for the existence and effects of subliminal stimulation, proving that the mind does receive and process information which is not consciously perceived. There are many hundreds of other studies available in scientific journals on subliminal perception.
