The Parkhouse Milestone Restaurant
Holdenby,
Kettering
Northamptonshire
On 29th July 2006 I went for lunch here with friends.. it is a big old mansion house converted
into a restaurant at some point in the past ten years or so. The initial attraction was a board advertising 2 for 1 main courses
as we couldn’t see the house from the road.. so we didn’t know the place and when we parked up we were amazed
at such a beautiful house becoming a pub/restaurant!
We sat and waited for our
food, I had no intention of "investigating" as I was more interested in lunch :)
However, as I was chatting
I stopped in my tracks as the energy of past events was overwhelming. I felt there had been people in white uniforms there
circa 1900 and that there had been people “kept away from society” for no good reason, e.g. unmarried mothers.
I felt a dour old man with
a long pinched face, high collars and a cravat was often present and that he assumed the house was still his. I heard bells
ringing like those to summon servants, and felt that the restaurant /bar area I was sitting in had once been a drawing room
to receive guests.
I went to the loo, and en
route noticed how empty the place was for a Sat lunch time and noted there were no ladies in the bar at all.
I went in the loo, only 2
cubicles. While I was in there I heard the squeaky entry door open and someone walked in and knocked on my door! Now no-one
was in the other cubicle, the room was empty when I walked in.. the door to the other cubicle was open too...
I assumed it was my friend
Claire letting me know she was there, so I said “hellooo” and then
I heard the other cubicle door close and lock so I assumed it was her, although she didn't answer which I thought was odd...
When I came out less than
30 seconds later – there was no-one there! Argh! And to my shock, the cublicle next to me was still open, no closed
door despite the clear closing and locking sounds.
No-one could have left the
toilets as the only door in or out had the squeakiest hinge, and the door hadn’t opened. And who knocked on the cubicle
door?!
I asked out if there was
anyone there with me who wanted to communicate, but nothing – I felt there was a presence but left it at that and went
back to my meal!
My friend went to the loo
10 minutes later and reported that the first cubicle (the one I was in) was covered in loo roll – the dispenser was
open and all the individual sheets had been strewn over the cubicle floor. It was tidy and the dispenser was locked when I
left – was this someone communicating after I left the room? Those dispensers lock with a key – and so how did
it come undone and why was the paper in such a mess?
